Mr Maz Gulamhusein
I took over Zeidan Eyecare Centre in April 2012 from its founder, Mr. Chaaban Zeidan. Since then, my mission has been to provide innovative and patient-focused eye care. I graduated as an optometrist from Cardiff University in 2004 and earned accreditation as a behavioural optometrist in 2015. This qualification allowed us to expand our services to include behavioural optometry assessments and vision therapy for patients with learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, and autism, as well as those recovering from traumatic brain injuries.
My areas of expertise include treating strabismus, amblyopia, and myopia control using advanced tools like Vivid Vision, syntonic light therapy, and orthokeratology. I am also passionate about dry eye management, keratoconus care, and specialist contact lens fittings.
Outside of work, I am a sports enthusiast who enjoys football, padel, tennis, table tennis, and cricket. A lifelong Manchester United fan, I am also committed to charity work, participating in eye camps across Africa and the Middle East. Additionally, I love personal development and have attended talks by thought leaders like Simon Sinek, Robin Sharma, and Stephen Covey.
Miss Fatema Gulamhusein
Vision Therapist
I’ve been a vision therapist at Zeidan Eyecare Centre for 12 years. My journey into this field began after moving to the UK from Dubai, where I previously worked in banking. My husband, a behavioural optometrist, introduced me to vision therapy, and after experiencing its benefits firsthand with my children, I knew this was my calling.
I trained in the Netherlands through BOAf and have furthered my skills in RMT, Musgatova, and INPP primitive reflex integration. Outside of work, I volunteer at a weekly food drive in Birmingham and participate in charitable initiatives in Kenya, including providing water and reusable sanitary pads for those in need.
I’m a keen hiker, having scaled Mount Kenya, and I plan to conquer Mount Kilimanjaro next year. As a mother of two, I cherish time spent with my family.
Miss Vanessa Brown
Hi, I’m Vanessa—though most people call me Ness! I’ve been the Practice Manager at Zeidan Eyecare Centre for 13 years, and I absolutely love my role. Outside of work, I’m a dedicated runner and fitness enthusiast, having recently completed my first ultra-marathon with my amazing FSG group. Together, we often run to raise funds for various charities.
When I’m not on the move, I enjoy traveling, discovering new eateries, and immersing myself in a good book. I look forward to welcoming you to Zeidan Eyecare Centre!
Miss Julie Woodings
Optical Assistant & Administrative Lead
I’ve been part of the Zeidan Eyecare Centre family for over two years and love my role as an optical assistant and administrative lead. Helping patients find the perfect frames and witnessing their joy when trying them on is incredibly rewarding.
Outside of work, I enjoy playing darts, snooker, and table tennis, along with tackling giant jigsaw puzzles and latch-hook crafts. I’m happily married with a loving daughter and treasure time with my family. I’m also a fan of Cathy Glass books, prison documentaries, and, of course, Jon Bon Jovi!
